Raise3D E2 FDM Printer

From Eugene Makerspace Wiki

Capabilities

- Dual extruder - Enclosed print area and high-heat capability hot-end and bed makes this printer a good choice for ABS, ASA and Nylon - Relatively slow speed

Slicer Software How-to

  • The IdeaMaker software is installed on the PC nearest the 3d printers.
  • Import your models and slice them with the EMS+[MATERIAL] slicing profiles (EMS+PLA, EMS+ABS, EMS+NYLON)
    • These are kept up to date and exported on occasion to a backup on EMS File Share
    • Make a copy before making any changes!
    • This printer currently prints PLA at 60mm/s :-(
  • You can either "Upload to Printer" for local LAN print, or "Export to Local Disk" and save it to a USB stick.
    • Do not walk away with the attached USB stick!
    • Do not assume your GCode files will be preserved! Backup up your models and GCODE if that is important to you.
  • Starting the print is done on the little touch screen attached to the printer
    • Select "Print" on the bottom bar
    • Select "Upload Queue" if you uploaded it, select "USB Storage" if you uploaded it to USB

Changing Filament

  • See 1.3.2 (Page 8) of File:RaiseTouch E2 User Manual.pdf
    • It preheats, you hit a button to start it backing out the material. When it backs it out past the extruder gear, carefully pull it out and rewind the material; place the material you're unloading in a storage bin or at the very least a ziplock bag with some dehydrator packets
    • Loading is the reverse; the machine will preheat, and then ask you to feed the filament through the tube to the extruder head and click "Okay" to get it to extrude until it starts to come out the hot-end.
