Reports
President's report
Karen's been contacted by someone who runs classes through what they describe as professional grade maker spaces. They work with Yakima Makerspace, Bellingham Makerspace, and some others. Karen described our structure and limitations and reached out to the rest of the board to see if anyone else was interested in working with them and received no response. They charge their members $420 annually and offer discounts on classes and presentations.
Our challenges in going from $25 to $35 for membership suggest we might not be the right market for offering $120+ classes and noted that our organization is not really set up for being able to offer them the kind of infrastructure that would be needed to make this work. It would also create financial complications for us if the revenue generated for the maker space required separate tax reporting and payments.

Shop status
The metal working/welding table has been reclaimed by its owner. Todd indicated that he's interested in building a replacement. Everything seemed ok when Karen was last there.
Old Business/Action Item Review
COVID-19 status review - Open Hack closure status
CDC has issued a notice for Lane County recommending masks indoors. It is not a mandate, but a science-based recommendation. There have been no confrontations reported at the shop under our current policy requesting people wear masks when possible and respect the right of others to wear masks without criticism. We will continue to recommend mask usage.
Ben will contact the membership to see if anyone is interested in cleaning up and configuring the 3d printer for checkout
In work.
Ben will follow up with Bee about the blind hardware
Done. Bee knows where the hardware is, we're waiting for either a status change or heads up on next steps.
ACTION: Ben will request an update from Bee.
New Business
Lock on dumpster
The lock was cut off again. We don't have any idea what's happening, who's taking it off. We have three options:
- Do nothing and wait to see what happens
- Replace the lock
- Switch to weekly service
We also maintain the 'nuclear option' of removing trash service.
ACTION: Karen will report back with details about SaniPac communications.
Election
Karen sent out an email on 10/1 with a call for nominees as well as a proposal requesting a membership mandate for a specific fundraising goal behind which we can all align. There have been no responses yet.
The election should be completed by December 3rd.
Switching Patreon membership type
Patreon offers a new payment method that would stop the situation of members joining at the end of a month and getting billed twice in a row. Our current bank buffer gives us more flexibility for the payments from Patreon being spread across the month so this
