Reports

President's report

Several folks have contacted us through the website, the most consistent result is that she encourages folks to join our Slack. Karen suggested we take steps to get more of these people onto Slack instead of routing them to the email so often, or at least offer the option.

Karen also suggest we look for opportunities to move people forward into the membership process with less talk, more action.

ACTION: Ben will See if we can improve the new user flow..

Secretary's report

Nothing to report.

Treasurer's report

• The rent went up to $1500 as of this month • Cash on hand: $1463.21 • Change from last month: -$176.54 Rent went up and we are continue to loose money. We need about 5 regularly paying members at $35 to break even. We have about 8 months of runtime not accounting for insurance renewal and other non monthly expenses.

Shop status

Ben put a decal on the dumpster. Karen picked up $35 from Sam when she visited and set up dumpster key and sign for the membership.

Old Business/Action Item Review

COVID-19 status review - Open Hack closure status

As stated previously, one key difference here is that even at the best of times, our shop runs on the honor system.. and we don't have staff there all day to say what can and can't happen, taking care of things like.. 'cleaning' or saying "hey you, wear a mask or leave."

While I'm not sure of our square footage, I think we'd struggle to operate a 'normal' Open Hack without having emotional backup for anyone staffing the situation to find the gumption to shout someone down if they got all 'mah freedom!' If we do have over 500 square feet, we DON'T have 500 square feet of occupy-able space. between all the tables, tools, and piles of stuff. I think we could properly social distance (at 6 feet) 4 people, maybe 5 in a pinch. Any more and we'd need traffic lights.

I'd still rather see Lane county climb up out of "Extreme Risk" before we look at changing the current situation, and preferably to not just peek out of it, but maybe hold that position for a cycle or two before we leap back into operation. While covid won't live long on surfaces, we don't clean surfaces.

New Risk Group Assessments are set to be released in the next day or two regarding Lane's place in all this, but I'm not expecting miracles.

Based on the most up to date data that Lane County provides, 97402 has had 93 cases over the past two weeks, with 97401 having 176, and 97403 logging 161. 97477 has only had 79, so go Springfield for 'keeping each other at a distance'. In total over the county, 282 are considered infectious, which based on the "Epi Curve" tab, switching to "Infectious" view, DOES seem to be remarkably improved with numbers similar to November 2020. Hospitalization bars look to be on the decline too.

So there does seem to be some good news there. I'm just not sure we're at 'let's open up!' yet.

End of Line.

ACTION: Karen will will cancel all meetup events through the next board meeting.

Ben and Facebook Calendar

Recurring. In progress.

Karen initiate trash service

Done. An email was sent to the membership to inform them of the change and give instructions.

Ben will figure out why key system didn't notify on lost members

Possibly done, continuing to monitor.

Karen will send a reminder to the membership about COVID restrictions at the shop

Done.

Ben will install new door closer that Karen has ordered

Done. Karen tuned it further so that it also works.

Karen will remove all open hacks via meetup through the February board meeting

Done.

Karen will schedule bank trip with Piotr, Ben, and Beata

Unable to continue at this time due to COVID-19. The county remains in Extreme Risk category. Karen's recommendation is that we continue to cancel open hacks through February and refresh the membership's memory regarding mask rules, spacing.

Ben will follow up with Lightburn re: non-profit license for second laser

On-going.

Ben will reach out to the membership to let them know about the laser and to coordinate to give some lessons

On-going.

Karen will install a new hard drive in the 3d Printer workstation

Ongoing.

Beata will coordinate with Michael regarding the DVR

Ongoing.

New Business

Laser 2 update

Ben bought a controller, water pump, and additional hardware with the intention of making the second laser roughly equivalent to the first. It will hopefully be usable with the same Lightburn software the first laser uses when done.
