Ben requested ideas on donations for the shop that he might be able to make to maximize his company's matching-grants offer.
- Bins
- Towels
- Cleaning
Karen noted that there was a standing need for shop supplies.
Sam noted that we will likely need to budget and purchase some supplies for the dust extraction task.
Piotr also plans to possibly donate a printer.
Shop status
Sam reported on the shop status. He noted that someone did a big cleanup in the front corner that made a remarkable difference. The wood area will benefit from the dust extractor. Last month, we picked up a ShopBot and dust extractor and both need to be homed in the shop and configured.
The metal area is a little chaotic right now and in a state of flux. There's been some membership conversation about replacing some of the tools that moved back to their owners home. Some clutter has appeared and gone during this time, we are hopeful that it will remain clear. The backbench needs to be organized better to improve the usability of the tools.
CNC Alley is still being semi-used for storage. Sam described the clutter back there as a chicken/egg situation where nobody uses it because it's cluttered, and people feel safe using it as storage because nobody uses it.
Nothing to report on the clean room.
Sam brought a couple of donated 3d printers and moved them to the Pick-a-part and reported that it's navigable.
The police showed last week because there were reports of someone walking around on the roof of the building. Other neighbors have heard sounds up there too, we should keep an eye open.

Membership communication
Sam noted that we have a big chunk of our membership that's not on Discord and would like to make sure that we take steps to seek ways to make sure users are reached. We talked about using Patreon to double-up some communications and also there was a talk about making an effort to get more people into the Discord.
Renaming Open Hack
There's been confusion over the years about what this means, we discussed renaming it to something more inclusive for folks who are not yet part of the Maker community.
- Open House was a suggestion.
- Public Access was another suggestion.
We will try Public Access for a while to see if that makes a difference.
Review upcoming events
We have open houses scheduled through August.
