Shop status
Ben found the A/C running in an empty shop and shut it off and made a hand-written sign asking folks to limit running it when the shop is occupied. Karen visited on the 6th and found the sign still present and the A/C not running on an empty shop.
Karen reported that we've had some open hacks on Tuesday due to volunteers available to staff them.
We discovered that the power strip along the west wall had blown and taken the door system off the LAN. Karen walked a willing member through the process of resetting it. The refrigerator's contents were disposed of following the extended non-refrigeration.
Old Business/Action Item Review
COVID-19 status review - Open Hack closure status
CDC has issued a notice for Lane County recommending masks indoors. It is not a mandate, but a science-based recommendation. There have been no confrontations reported at the shop under our current policy requesting people wear masks when possible and respect the right of others to wear masks without criticism. We will continue to recommend mask usage.
Karen will send a notice to the Discord about the recommendation for masking
Done.
Ben will contact the membership to see if anyone is interested in cleaning up and configuring the 3d printer for checkout
In work.
Ben will order some blinds hardware for Bee to test
ACTION: Ben will will follow up with Bee about the hardware.
Karen will contact the Elegoo user to get more details for a possible blog post
Karen reached out to the individual and has not received a response.
New Business
Email Policy
Karen reported that we have been receiving questions that we have not had the time/resources to answer or commit to (a specific example of the latter was a request to teach someone's child how to use a 3D printer). She suggests that we make the information available to the community to possibly take on instead if we can be confident that the expectations are properly set that their contact information may be shared. Piotr suggested we might be able to only share the contact information with a single member who would volunteer to take it on. There was a discussion about what the evolving role of email address privacy is in conjunction with taking reasonable steps to protect privacy via discord channels. Karen asked if we could create a member's only section and Piotr answered that there was and also then created it. We'll limit these posts to there so the messages are not public. Questions to the board mail that can't be answered immediately will be posted to the channel with a request if
